About the Festival
Out in the Desert: Tucson’s International LGBT Film Festival strives to educate the public with programming that offers diverse perspectives on the LGBT experience through film. It is important to encourage open dialogue and communication about Queer Culture in order to foster understanding, acceptance, tolerance and change within the Queer community and beyond.
In an attempt to better serve our audience and community, We are very excited that we’ve initiated a ground-breaking approach to our programming for Out in the Desert 2013. Rather than separating and programming films according to sexual identity, (i.e. gay films, lesbian films, transgender films), we have programmed films for this year’s festival by genre. This will make each program within the festival much more diverse; exposing the community to a wider range of film subjects they may not have otherwise considered.
